Disguise the Bloat
Menopause, IBS, mid month, postpartum and the list goes on….
We have all suffered from bloating at some point and feeling uncomfortable in our clothes, nothing feels right and try shopping for something new when you are feeling that way - forget it!
So what do you do? Stay at home and refuse to go out or do you have some clothes on hand for those occasions, all ready in your wardrobe?
I think the 2nd option is the best one. But what will you need so that you aren’t wasting your money on clothes that you can’t incorporate in your wardrobe.
Why not look at investing in a few pieces that make you feel great, no matter what your body is doing. Bloating is normal and you can still look stylish.
My top 5 items that I have on hand in my wardrobe are the following;
Amaze Utility pant from Just Jeans - they have elastic in the back, super comfy and stretchy (you can buy something similar or whatever you feel the most comfortable in)
A-line linen or cotton dress that is loose fitting and comfortable. I choose a-line as that suits my body type the best. Empire line is also another comfy style dress.
Skirt with soft elastic waistband
Soft linen pants that have a elastic/stretchy waist or lounge wear pants
L/sleeve shirts, that can be layered over a singlet but leave open or half tuck etc.
Suggestions on what not to wear:
Skinny jeans, low rise jeans, body-con dresses or skirts, leather pieces (not breathable and very restrictive).
We have been told on repeat ‘that having a flat stomach is the baseline for beautiful bodies’. The message is slowly changing which is great. But realistically when you have a bulging stomach, you sometimes don’t feel so wonderful. So what do you do, you dress for your every changing body shape!
What to remember: your outfit each day and your style can play a huge part in your confidence and self esteem. So always put on an outfit that you love, feel stylish and comfortable in.
